Patterson & Stirling was founded in the 1860s as Patterson Metal Works and manufactured galvanized products such as pails and wash tubs. Patterson’s son-in-law joined forces around 1900 and started manufacturing decorative metal ceilings, which were found in most center city retail stores. The company then became known as Patterson & Stirling. The business grew to approximately 80 employees, traveling as far as Florida and the East Coast. We manufactured the first coal furnace in the Erie area through a local foundry.
Patterson & Stirling installed the first gas air conditioning unit in the Erie area at a local retail store. As times changed, the company downsized to doing only HVAC and duct systems. The company has continued the personal and quality workmanship, which the company has been known for throughout its more than 150 years in existence. With seven employees, we are large enough to do most any residential and commercial jobs and small enough to keep the personal attention required to ensure customer satisfaction.
